Because of the popularity of the tea in the South African Market we identified the demand currently in the USA for Rooibos (Red Bush) tea. For South African expats, Annique and Rooibos (Red Bush) tea are household names. Rooibos (Red Bush) tea have gained tremendous popularity amongst USA residents and citizens as a healthier alternative to coffee. Because Rooibos (Red Bush) tea is a new concept to the majority of its users in the USA we have an opportunity to introduce a large variety of products containing Rooibos (Red Bush) extract which provides a complete health solution to its users. No other business offers a variety of Rooibos (Red Bush) infused products such as Annique.
In 1968 Dr. Annique Theron stumbled across the natural healing powers of the South African herb, Rooibos (Aspalathus linearis), when she warmed Lorinda, her highly allergic baby’s bottle with warm Rooibos (Red Bush) tea. For the first time since birth, Lorinda slept through the night and her allergic reactions to even mother’s milk calmed down.
Dr. Theron considered that the Rooibos (Red Bush) tea she had given her daughter could be the only factor to have caused this change and so she began to investigate her theory. Despite facing many challenges as a women trying to prove her findings, she set out with a vision to create life-changing opportunities for all.
This vision has grown into a globally respected health and beauty brand boasting:
As early as the 1980's Japanese and American scientists found that Rooibos (Red Bush) tea contains a powerful and stable antioxidant called Super Oxide Dismutase (SOD).
Later researchers verified that Rooibos (Red Bush) tea has anti-allergic, anti-spasmodic, anti-bacterial, anti-ageing, anti-viral, anti-carcinogenic properties and that the tea contains no caffeine and low tannin.
Even after numerous studies through the years the list of beneficial properties of Rooibos (Aspalathus linearis) is still growing and ongoing research is focusing on the application of both regular Rooibos (Red Bush) and Green Rooibos tea in health and skin care.
To honor Dr. Theron's discovery of the anti-allergic properties of Rooibos (Red Bush) tea; she received the coveted Best Woman Inventor of the Year award at the 25th International Inventors Exhibition in Geneva, Switzerland in 1997.
